I am so excited to be officially launching out Noir Portraits towards the end of this month!
Its a beautiful and classic portrait for your home, with black and white style images. These portraits are timeless and will sit on your walls for many years to come.

You need to bring black clothes, ideally with long sleeves, avoiding anything with patterns or with logos on them to create the perfect portrait for you and your family.
These portraits last around 45 minutes and all images are processed in our Noir style.
If you have young children please bring with you toys that will help to keep their attention, but ensure that this is kept in a bag so they do not know you have it with you when you come in.

2012 review and 2013 starting
Wow, I can not keep up with how fast each year flies by now, how did 2013 arrive so quickly!
2012 was an amazing year, with the business growing. Every year I am learning more, adapting, changing how we work and what we do to make the experience for you better and better. I love capturing images that will be hanging on your wall for years to come. Images that show the journey of families, friends and even pets.
I used to hate having my photo taken, but how things have changed.
I have noticed that more and more I treasure the images of my family, friends and myself. I love looking at what has happened in the last year by looking at the images, be them snap shots or professional images.
I am really excited and looking forward to capturing all the families, children, friends, couples and pets in 2013!

Poisonarrow clothing
I had a huge amount of fun being able to photograph for Poison Arrow Clothing and their new range. Getting to photograph on the beach (even if it was cold!)

FSB Hertfordshire Awards
Wow, what a fantastic night photographing the FSB Awards 2012 evening. It is always really inspiring to see the business that finalise, to share in the joy of the night.
Shendish Manor put on a fantastic evening with amazing food... with so many categories for the awards, it was great to see a room full of finalists, their friends and family with them for support.

What to wear for your family portrait
What should I wear for my studio family portrait?
This is a common question asked when people are booking a family portrait with us at Szpak Photography.
During our family portraits you can bring a change of clothes and colours, we are happy to discuss this with you before your day.
Below we have come up with a few ideas for your experience......
Never go out of fashion....
Blue jeans and a white top are the perfect combination. Jeans never go out of fashion and helps create a portrait that can hang on your wall for years to come......
Co-ordinate.....
Have you got specific colours in the room you want to hang your portrait? why not bring this into your portrait?
Different colours can work well when co-ordinated correctly and making sure the clothes are the same style, so that no one stands out from the group.
Photo Noir.....
At Szpak Photography we have different colour backgrounds for your family to be photographed on, one of the other popular backgrounds is our black. For this your family needs to be wearing

Enjoy our colour backgrounds and let us know what colours you like... we can create images with different backgrounds rather than just the black and white....

Taking Time out to shoot fun for me....
Last Saturday I managed to get out of the studio and do a shoot for myself out on location in Hitchin, with our fabulous model Jasmine.
The idea was to capture a few images with the last of the rapeseed fields and to capture the sunset behind with flares. Using my Nikon D2x and also my favourite lens 28-70 F2.8.

This last image is taken with a Nikon SB-600 off camera flash.....

An Amazing Day with David Honl
I can not thank the PT4U team enough for their invite to a day with David Honl and for David for taking the time to spend with us. It was extremely inspiring and great to be out of my comfort zone (usually in the studio)
We were all lucky enough to spend the afternoon outside (In the very wet and cold Wales conditions) with David and some of his great accessories (The Honl Speed Grid and the Honl Traveller8 Softbox - both are now on my to buy list!)
Here are just a few of the images captured on the day....
I can not wait to purchase these products and get out on location with my camera and a model to play with the effects even more.

Starting Again
Unfortunately our images on Google for previous posts have gone missing, so it means our posts are starting again from the beginning.
This is the first of many as I build my blog back up showing more recent images, along with the launch of our new website in the up and coming months.

A gold award for pet image
Really pleased to be awarded a gold for the image below in the SWPP monthly competition. Since January we have captured many pets both in the studio and out on location. Taking the time with the animals to put their personality into the images...
